I know there are a few on my f-list, so please give this a gander if you have the time.

I watched most of S4 of the X-Files in 1996-97 when it aired (doesn't S4 end with people thinking Mulder is dead, or am I on crack?). I saw some of the beginning of S5, too, I'm pretty sure, but then I went on my mission and I was off TV from October 97 to April of 99. I don't think I watched any in 1999 because I didn't have FOX in good reception where I lived, but I know I watched the last two or three seasons, so I guess it depends what year it ended...anyway, I'm totally rambling. I wasn't addicted to the show, but I followed it enough to have a pretty good clue about what was going on and I watched the first movie at some point, and I do want to see the new movie.

My questions are: When was Scully abducted, and how long was she gone for? When did it happen, which season?

I'm watching the X-Files Revelations DVD because I have no time to watch all 9 seasons anytime soon to get caught up, and the movie comes on this Friday. I don't know that I'll see it this week, but I'm trying to get prepared.

I watched The Pilot this weekend and I really liked the parallel with them talking in the hotel room with Scully on the bed and Mulder on the floor because there is a similar scene in the series finale that I remember very distinctly. This really was a well done show. The Pilot is just awesome (and set in Oregon!).

Anyway, I'm not as good a fangirl when it comes to this fandom, but I do care and I am invested, so please help me! :D

The Dark Knight

No worries, no spoilers lie here except the fact that you should get your ass to the theatre pronto.

The Dark Knight is by far my favorite movie of 2008.

I wasn't a big fan of Batman Begins. The action sequences were too long, I didn't care about his *training* and I liked Katie Holmes as the love interest about as much as I like mushrooms (i.e. not at all).

Anywho, I do love Chris Nolan. He gave us Momento and The Prestige after all, so I know he's a brilliant filmmaker.

Christian Bale is, well, Christian effing Bale.

And Heath Ledger is, as you know, no longer with us.

When Heath passed in January, I would have classified myself on a scale of 1 to 10, about a 4 in level of fangirlyness. I do own a few of his films, more for the films than for him, so I went to TDK with no intention of being caught up in the hype about his performance. I saw The Brothers Grimm and Lords of Dogtown, so I already knew the guy could act. His death didn't make me run out and rent Brokeback Mountain and nothing could ever really make me want to watch it. Never had any interest, never will.

All I will say about TDK is it's NOT hype. He's amazing. And for a girl who was 14 years old when Jack took his turn as The Joker, all I will say is this is not your older sister's joker.

If any of you have seen it and would like to discuss the film, please enter in. I have a feeling I'll be talking about it for the rest of the summer. The themes in this film are so strong, gah. If I could hug them all, I would.

Honorable mention to Aaron Eckhart, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Gary Oldman, Michael Caine and the untouchable Morgan Freeman. Also Mahone (Bill Fichtner) makes an appearance, as does Richard (Nestor Carbonell) from Lost.

So, my Puerto Rican Wedding fic is coming along nicely. All for it's the weirdest thing ever.

I have a question for any of you that were reading my Effects Series (so really this question is just for happywriter06 but anyone can weigh in with any thoughts) or who have read other WIPs that have never been finished...

What I started to write has faded away entirely, but I had this sudden idea of how to finish it that will sort of gloss over the details I originally intended to write. It would be sort of a fastforward to get to the climax, which was an emotional journey between two characters. The backdrop just happened to be an action-packed story that I've since lost my jones for. This is the question: would you rather the author finish a WIP even if it doesn't give you all the events in minute detail, or would you rather them not even bother if they've lost the original thread of the story? Potato, poTAUTo, you know? What do you think?

I can't imagine I would find any pics you haven't seen before...

Some speculative thoughts about S4 and the writers....

Not safe for the spoilphobes, so here's a cut to protect your virtue...

Along with all the stuff we've seen over the last couple of months or so, the promo shot confirms that Whistler and Sofia are not going to be a main part of S4. So I was thinking about what that means exactly in relationship to the writers. burntcircles pointed out that the first pitch for S3 was rejected, and then they came back to the table with what we ended up getting (Whistler, Gretchen, Sofia, and of course HIAB). This year, the first pitch was accepted and the first thing the writers appear to be doing is getting rid of Whistler and Sofia, but keeping Gretchen, and of course resurrecting Sara. For all that the writers/producers of this show seem to talk out of both sides of their mouths as far as the creative process goes, it stands to reason that a great deal of that could be wrapped in the politics of what they are allowed to say or not allowed to say. I mean, after all, we never heard *for sure* Sara was dead until 3.04 aired, but there was all sorts of fear and speculation running rampant.

As a fan, as someone who tried to cut the writers some slack last season what with the strike, the rejected pitch and the contract negotiations that went south, I think this is very indiciative of the fact that much of what happened last season that was screwed up was screwed up by the studio and what the writers scrambled to do in the wake of the demands of the studio. I'd really like to believe that whatever the first pitch was of S3 didn't include Sara's demise, and had they been able to do creatively what they wanted we would never have had to go through what we've gone through as fans.

Needless to say, we'll probably never know; my speculation that the ousting of Whistler and Sofia ASAP is proof is just my own fantasy land. But I wanted to say it, get it down on the internets, as they say.

Any thoughts?

A couple of weeks ago I found out that chanchito_z had portable John Doe episodes. We worked out an arrangement in which I would write her some Michael and Sucre fluff fic in exchange for her burning the episodes to a DVD for me.

Today I was feeling like I wanted to write some fanfic, so I went to my fanfic folder and I saw the Sucre prompt she'd given me. I had actually forgotten about it in my American Idol-David Cook Lust flurry of last week.

So I start writing what I assume will be some light fare (ergo, the word FLUFF) but now I'm somehow writing this weirdo piece where Sucre wants to throw a traditional Puerto Rican wedding for Linc and Sofia. Yes, you read that right. None of it makes sense, chanchito_z will probably not like it, and so I won't really deserve to get the John Doe DVDs. But the muse wants what the muse wants and that's all there is to it.

Just thought I'd share with you all.

Hey y'all.

I should be able to post about my David Cook Concert experience tomorrow. I'm just waiting to get the pictures from my friend Sarah. She took all the pics on her digital camera and she's supposed to give me a copy of the pics tomorrow at church.

A few weeks ago I started watching Burn Notice but I really hadn't had time to get back to it, and I wanted to watch the 1st season before I start on the second (I taped the S2 premiere the other night). We watched 5 episodes last night, including the one where Michael and Fi finally...you know. It so reminded me of this scene out of this book I read and it was quite entertaining. I do really like that show. And the last episode we watched last night had him finally get in contact with someone over the phone that might give him some info--and we so recognized that guy's voice. It was Toby Ziegler! I'm so excited for when Richard Schiff will show up.

Last week sometime I caught Steel Magnolias on TV. As I was bawling through the whole thing like I've never seen it before it suddenly occured to me that that movie is 20 years old. I remember going to see it with my mom when I was 13. How does time go by so fast?

I preordered Penelope a bit ago, and I'm watching Becoming Jane right now because I love James McAvoy so much. But I do have to say that I saw Wanted last week and it was really not good. In the hands of a better director and better writers, I think it would have been amazing. As it was, it was relying solely on the stature of its actors--Morgan Freeman, Angelina Jolie and James McAvoy--and while they were good, they couldn't really elevate their material. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, which makes me very sad, because every other McAvoy film I've seen I'd recommend on some basis.

As an avid music lover, but as someone who hasn't ever been overly concerned with concerts, I could see myself totally following David Cook all over the country, if time and money allowed.

I also really, really, REALLY hope he puts Hello on his upcoming album. Because, sweet heaven, it's lyrical sex. So wonderful.

I have tonz of pics that I need to upload, so I'm just going to wait until then to leave my full account of the concert.

We did hang around after the concert, but we didn't see the ones we wanted, we saw Carly, Rami and Chekezie. But we had a three hour drive home, so we left a little after 11 to get home.

halfshellvenus the smoke was pretty bad in Sac, but not nearly as bad as it was on 299 between Willow Creek and Weaverville, which is where two huge fires were converging on our travels over. The smoke was so thick at about 12 noon yesterday that we had such poor visibility I was afraid to keep going forward until we suddenly burst out of it. I can't imagine having to live there, even in Sac for right now, with the oppressive heat and smoke. I was so thrilled to come home today where it was a tepid 65, clear and beautiful.

On the other hand, I would go through it all again to see my boy. He was fantastic.

I'm watching Fin Del Camino right now, and I just had to reiterate how much I love Linc and Mahone together. I realize I enjoy Michael a lot more in his scenes with Mahone too, and Bellick and Bill Kim, of course, so it is the common denominator of Mahone that makes it so enjoyable. (I really enjoyed his scenes with Sara, too, more so now than I did a year ago.)

However, the idea of more Linc/Mahone scenes in S4 makes me a bit giddy.

I do miss my boy Kellerman, though.

After the AI Tour on July 9th, I'll be marking my calendar days off till September 1st!

Otherwise, let me tell you about Jackie, my friend from church who borrowed my S1 PB dvds. She's up to episode 14 (By the Skin and the Teeth) and she emailed me last night to tell me she was that far, so I quoted back all my favorite parts (*Help me to walk outta here a man* and Linc and LJ's last phone call and Vee and Mike's last goodbye, etc...) and she emails me back and asks, "Do you have them all memorized?" Ha. Uh, yeah, and doesn't everyone? I told her about last summer and being with pamalax and sierra_foxx for hours in the car discussing it when Emma (Pam's daughter) says, "You guys think about this way too much."

*waves her freak flag*

I've been re-watching S2 this week, and there's just so much to love about it, though admittedly I do fastforward through the T-Bag, Bellick and C-Note stuff.

I'm going to see Wanted tonight, so yay, my Independence day will be filled with McAvoy shooting two guns at one time, and that, my friends, is enough to make me gleeful all weekend, I'm sure.

1) Hey, I recall several people on my f-list (who specifically, I cannot recall) being upset because Josh Holloway was not cast as Gambit in the Wolverine movie, or the new X-men, or whatever? Anyway, I was just perusing Josh's IMDb page and it says:

"Was offered the role of "Gambit" in X-Men: The Last Stand (2006) but turned it down, saying the role was too close to his "Lost" (2004) character."

So, be mad at Josh, not at TPTB in charge of X-men/Wolverine movies. Just interesting.

2) Last night I was channel surfing right before bed, and Can't Hardly Wait was on, so I got sucked into watching it again (why is Paradise City like one of the most singable songs EVAH!?). Is it wrong that I find Seth Green SO attractive in that movie? Like seriously. It's weird. Although I liked him in The Italian Job but he's just so cute in CHW.

3) Saturday night I caught some of T2 on TV. I really need to see those movies before TSCC comes back in the fall. Linda Hamilton may ruin it for me though, because she's freaking awesome. And Lena Headley just isn't Linda Hamilton.

4) I'm watching S3 of Lost again (because I'm obsessed) and seriously, Josh Holloway is such a great actor. Every Man For Himself--all the emotion in his voice when Cassidy shows him the picture of Clementine--I mean, COME ON! But can I just tell you my biggest pet peeve about doctors/doctor shows is when they show them doing CPR and their arms are bent while they are doing CPR? (Jack's doing that right now as Colleen flatlines.) I just wish the director would go for authenticity in scenes like that.

5) One week and one day until I SEE DAVID COOK (& friends) IN CONCERT! w00t!

6) The Four Feathers is one of the best movies of all time, IMHO.

Because I'm smack dab in the middle of PB lovefest....

I so can't wait for Prison Break to come back. Often I travel on Labor Day Weekend, but not this year. I think I'll re-watch S3 in preparation for S4 (have I thanked God lately that there is a S4--please, also, God, while I have you here, no strike for the SAG, mmmkay?) I want to be home the entire weekend in anticipation.

Out of curiosity, do you pronounce it Me-Me or Meem for the word popular here at LJ spelled meme? I was having a discussion earlier this week with some people about it, so it got me to wondering. It's just like how in my head I always pronounce msgenevieve the French way even though I think of her as Jen and I know she doesn't pronounce her name the French way. It's just that once you do something for so long, it's just in your head that way. You have no idea how long it took me to re-train my brain on Hermione after I read book 4 and Rowling gave us the correct pronounciation.

One of my old roommates is in town so tomorrow she and her dad and another of my old pals, Michael, are coming over after church to make sushi. Yummeh. Can't wait.

I really want to go see Wanted (new McAvoy material, YAY!) but no time this weekend. Hopefully next week I'll get the chance. If any of you see it, don't spoil me, but let me know if you liked it or not.

I caught this weird movie on Lifetime tonight starring Susan Sarandon and Emily Blunt called Irresistable. I don't know if it's just the editing for TV that made the ending rather abrupt and weird, or if it's the movie itself. The title of the movie also made no sense to me, but it was like I couldn't turn it off, so maybe it was irresistable.

I've been re-watching S3 of 90210, and it's really just too bad that they couldn't get the rights to the songs they used in the originals, or whatever the issue was exactly. The episode where Kelly and Dylan cuddle on the beach the day before Brenda comes home from Paris just isn't the same for me without Sophie B. Hawkins singing *Damn, I Wish I Was Your Lover.* To me, that song will always be about the two of them, and it's just not right to have some other cheesy, unrecognizable song during that scene. I'm very glad I recorded that episode in particular (and various others) in 1992 and have managed not to wear the tape out.

Can you tell my roommate's out of town and I haven't had anyone to talk to all day? I could totally philosophize about Armageddon right now as I'm watching it again for the 400th time, but I'll shut up. I totally could have gone and talked to my neighbors, but I had stuff to do all day and I didn't even get lonely until now, when it's after 11pm.
